In March 2011, the campaign ‘Quiero andar tranquila - calles sin acoso’ was presented to more than 200 people. The objective of the campaign was to create awareness of the sexual harassment that women and girls experience daily in Quito’s public spaces and to educate people that this is not natural and is an act of inadmissible discrimination that violates women’s rights. A survey undertaken on the Trolleybus system indicated that 44% of people who use public transport have suffered some type of harassment. 51% of Trolleybus users are women, therefore only 6% of women who use the Trolleybus have not been harassed [3].
